At the moment, there are not enough radiographers in the UK, which means that radiography professionals are in high demand.

This website will help you find the perfect radiography job.

In the UK, 90% of radiographers are employed by the NHS. However, there are a lot of radiography jobs vacancies in private clinics and industry.

There are two main types of radiography jobs – diagnostic and therapeutic. To qualify for the jobs, you need relevant qualifications (a bachelor’s degree in either Therapeutic Radiography or Diagnostic Radiography), profound knowledge of radiography technology, physiology, anatomy and pathology.

Diagnostic radiographers are mainly employed by hospitals (NHS or private sector), but also sometimes work in clinics and surgeries. Hospital radiology departments require radiography professionals to do X-Rays, ultra-sound, fluoroscopy, CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), and angiography. Diagnostic radiographers service most hospital departments including outpatients, emergency, and operating theatres.

Therapeutic radiographers are also known as radiotherapy radiographers. They usually are members of oncology teams and are involved in all sorts of oncology treatment. As a therapeutic radiographer, you will work closely with doctors, nurses and other oncology department professionals. Therapeutic radiography jobs involve delivering prescribed doses of X-Ray and other ionising radiation to patients suffering from various forms of cancer. Together with the doctor, the radiographer establishes the area that needs to be treated and works out the dosage that is to be applied.

Radiography jobs also include sonography/ultrasonography jobs. Sonography and ultrasonography professionals are needed by most hospital departments. Most sonographers are trained as radiographers, which means that sonography is another option for people with a degree in radiography. To work in sonography, you will need to complete a sonography course approved by the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE).

In addition to that, there are numerous radiography assistant job opportunities across the country.
